How it works

A few minutes a day.
A lighter phone.

Three steps, and nothing changes on your phone until you say so.

  1. 01
Pick a month or an albumRollPrune lists your whole library by month, album and type, with a progress ring on each. Start anywhere and pick up where you stopped next time.
  2. 02
Swipe each photoSwipe to the delete side to put it in your bin, to the other side to keep it, or up to decide later. Buttons and keyboard shortcuts do the same, and Undo goes back 50 steps.
  3. 03
Review your bin and deleteLook over everything you binned, take back anything you want, then tap Delete. Android asks you to confirm, and RollPrune shows exactly what was deleted and how much space you got back.
one month at a time.

Months

Your whole library,
one month at a time.

Every month gets a progress ring and a check when it is done, so you always know how far you have come. Sort by date, size or name, search for a month, and hide the finished ones.

  • Newest or oldest first
  • Continue at the exact photo where you stopped
  • Mark the rest of a month as delete or keep in one go

Albums and types

Screenshots, downloads,
big videos.

Clean an album or folder, including Screenshots, Downloads, messaging-app folders and SD cards, or a type: videos, screenshots, screen recordings, GIFs, RAW and HEIC, large files and linked files.

  • Albums and folders on every storage
  • Large files first, to free space fast
  • Live photos and RAW+JPEG pairs kept together
when you swipe.

Review bin

Nothing is deleted
when you swipe.

A swipe only puts a photo in your bin. Open the bin when you are ready, take back anything you want, and tap Delete. RollPrune checks each file before and after, then reports only what really happened: deleted, moved to the system trash, skipped or not changed, with the reason.

  • The bin, undo and the system trash screen are always free
  • Android's own confirmation for every batch
  • System trash (about 30 days) or permanent delete, your choice
how far you are.

Progress

Always know
how far you are.

Home shows how much of your library you have reviewed, a Continue button that opens the exact photo where you stopped, your bin, and the space your deletions really freed, checked after each one.

  • Progress across the whole library
  • Continue where you stopped, even after a restart
  • Space freed counts only what was checked

Stats

Watch your library
get lighter.

Free stats show how much you have reviewed, kept and deleted. Pro adds your speed, your cleaning style, month-by-month charts and a list of your sessions.

  • Reviewed, kept, deleted and space freed
  • Pro: speed, style, month bars and sessions
  • Counted on your phone, never sent anywhere

Stats

See what you kept
and what you let go.

RollPrune counts every decision on your phone. The month chart shows how many photos and videos you kept and deleted, so you can see which months are done and which still need a look.

  1. Top part, in color: photos and videos you deleted
  2. Bottom part: the ones you kept
  3. Last bar: the month you are cleaning now

Honest compatibility

What works
on which Android.

The free edition works from Android 7, RollPrune Pro from Android 4.3. What Android itself offers changes by version, and RollPrune tells you which applies on your phone.

RollPrune cleans this phone's storage. Copies in cloud services, such as your photo backup, are not touched: remove them in that service. Items in the system trash still use space until it is emptied or about 30 days pass.

Pricing

Free with ads.
Or Pro, with no ads at all.

RollPrune comes in two editions on Google Play. The free edition has everything you need to clean safely and shows ads; a one-time in-app Pro unlock removes the ads and adds moving to folders, Random mode and full stats. RollPrune Pro is a separate paid app with every feature, no ads and no internet permission, and it runs on Android 4.3 and later.

Privacy

Your photos
never leave your phone.

Photos are shown and checked on your phone only, and your decisions stay in a private database inside the app. RollPrune Pro has no internet permission at all; the free edition goes online only for Google's ads and Google Play purchases.

What leaves your phone
Never your photos or your decisions. In the free edition, Google's ad service receives what its SDK needs to show ads, such as the advertising ID and device information, with your consent where the law requires it. Purchases are handled by Google Play. RollPrune Pro sends nothing. Privacy policy →

Questions,
answered.

Is anything deleted when I swipe?

No. A swipe only puts the photo in your bin. Nothing on your phone changes until you open the bin and tap Delete, and Android asks you to confirm.

I deleted photos. Why is the space not free yet?

On Android 11 and newer, deleted items go to Android's system trash first and still use space for about 30 days. Empty the system trash in RollPrune to free it now, or choose permanent delete in Settings.

Does it delete my cloud backup too?

No. RollPrune cleans this phone's storage only. Copies in cloud services, such as your photo backup, are not touched: remove them in that service. If a photo comes back, your gallery app may be showing the cloud copy.

Why does it ask for all my photos and videos?

Its job is to go through your whole library with you, including photos you have forgotten, and to count your progress. The photos are processed on your phone only and are never sent anywhere. On Android 14+ you can allow only selected photos and add more later.

What is the difference between the free edition and RollPrune Pro?

Both clean the same way. The free edition is free with ads and has every way to clean (months, albums, types, later), videos, sorting, search, bulk actions, the bin, undo, verified deletion, the system trash screen and basic stats; its one-time Pro unlock removes the ads and adds moving to folders, Random mode and full stats. RollPrune Pro is a paid app with all of that, no ads, no in-app purchases and no internet permission, and it also runs on older phones from Android 4.3.

Can it skip Android's confirmation dialog?

On Android 12 and newer you can allow media management for RollPrune in Android's settings. It is off by default. You still tap Delete in your bin first.
